Testimonials

Nancy V. Baker

Program, year, host institution:

Fulbright Specialist Program, 2013-14, University of Economics in Bratislava

Current position:

Regents Professor Emerita from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M., USA.

Testimonial:

“Teaching a class at the University of Economics about campaigning and American politics was both intellectually exciting and personally meaningful. I found the students to be bright, curious and more informed about the subject than many of my U.S. students! In one memorable class, they presented (in English) campaign memos outlining their recommended election strategies. It was fascinating. I also enjoyed working with other faculty and staff, as well as meeting local residents of the lovely, historical city of Bratislava. Many have become friends. A Fulbright in Slovakia is a life experience not to be missed.”

Current position:

Education & Media Specialist at VNS Federal Services

Testimonial:

“The Fulbright Specialist’s Program has been an incredible experience for me. These visits have allowed me to build on prior experiences in Slovakia to develop professional and personal relationships. I have been able to build on my local knowledge of people and wildlife to the point that I hope to return to a final visit where I can help pay back to the country and its people for all their warm hospitality. The Fulbright Staff, as well as the U.S. Embassy have been incredibly helpful and supportive. I have been lucky enough to present programs across the country with the help of the EducationUSA Centers in Banska Bystrica and Kosice. On a personal note, My Fulbright experience in Slovakia has helped me to learn about my own heritage and reconnect with long lost relations. All of these experiences have not only enriched me personally, but allowed me to share Slovakia to America. ”
